Willow's Growth

I want to tell you about Reiki Paws and the work that Sherri has done for our Willow. Willow is a little tuxedo rescue who came to live with us and our ailing cat Maggie. Maggie was very frail and about 17 years old. She was dying when Willow came to live with us. Willow treated Maggie like she was her mother. She would try to cuddle with her, but Maggie was really too old and weak to care.

Willow was a very sweet and cuddly kitten, but after Maggie died, it was as if she was scared of everything. She would jump if you just moved in her direction. We couldn't get close to her. This was offset by the fact that we also adopted a little tiger rescue named Stanley who is a lover.. He wants to cuddle all of the time. He and Willow cuddle but Willow still wouldn't let us near her. She would jump and run.

I talked to Sherri about Willow and she told me about her work with animals. One Sunday morning, she came to the house and met both kittens. Willow was scared and didn't want to come out, but Sherri worked with her remotely. Willow came out into the kitchen and sat there with her eyes wide open. We could tell something was happening….there was healing taking place.

The change wasn't immediate, but over the next couple of weeks, we noticed a difference in Willow. She is more open to us touching her. She won't run if we approach her and she has even come up on the bed with us at night a couple of times. Growth is happening and we feel that Sherri and her work was the catalyst. We are very grateful. What she does is amazing.

Thank you Sherri!

Teaching Others

We attended a 4-H meeting for the Whiskers, Paws and Claws cat club where you gave a presentation on your experience and Reiki Paws, and then allowed us to work with the cats that we brought in.  It was an amazing experience for my son and everyone in the room, and I have seen much improvement in our most troubled cat, in that she has become more tolerant of the other animals in the home and is more relaxed.  I thank you for opening our eyes to such a positive and impactful experience.

I think my son has the power of touch because we have 2 other cats that are a little bit nervous and he seems to really be able to work well with them and bring them peace.  One of the cats we adopted reached out to Cy and his dad, they were the only people she didn't hiss at.  Even the adoption attendant commented on it.  Now she has become quite a lap cat.  Cy was able to show her for the first time at the last 4H meeting in a calm manner without her scurrying away (due to the new environment), which was very impressive.  I'm a proud mama and believer.

Spooky's First Year

It took a little more work to win over my big brother Boo then it did my indoor mom.  At first, he would just chase me and not share his toys.  Mom would have talk after talk with him and eventually he warmed up to me and we would play together.  As long as I understood that the bed in the window was HIS!  Over time, I would sneak into his bed in the window...it is so comfy!  I especially love watching the birds outside.  As you can tell from the pictures, the rest is history.  Mom's really good at what she does.  She's now turned 2 of us ferals into loving house cats.  :)

Spooky - The introduction

Mom tried to help 2 teenage boys catch me at the Somerville Train station on Halloween right after Superstorm Sandy but she was too slow.  She called in CAPIC to catch me.  I wasn't fast enough for catnabber!  She caught me in 2 seconds flat!

Since all their fosters were full, I stayed in mom's garage overnight until she could get me vetted.  The CAPIC volunteer told mom to be real careful with me since I was feral...make sure you use gloves to handle her - she's wild.  When mom took one look into my eyes the following morning, she couldn't resist picking me up with bare hands.  She was very gentle and made me feel safe.  I got the "mostly clear" from the vet, I had these nasty worms from drinking from dirty puddles so mom kept me in a cage for a little while.

Once I showed her I knew how to use the litter box,  I saw my big brother Boo for the first time.  Mom spent special time trying to calm me down and getting to know me.  It's been over 20 years since she's had a kitten.  Her last one was Sunshine and she lived to be 19!  I hope mom and Boo are ready for me!
